Counseling

For more than 25 years, Fredric Matteson has served 16,000 adolescent and adult patients as they navigate thoughts of despair, hopelessness, and suicidal thoughts. From his experience on the Mental Health Unit at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, Washington, Matteson created Contextual-Conceptual Therapy (CCT). CCT is a non-linear, educational therapy model derived from those patients’ own language and own lived experience to give them a new frame of reference in which their moment of crisis can become their moment of transformation. With the vision of a poet, Matteson uses Maps, Models, & Metaphors ™ to help despairing, hopeless persons, or those with suicidal thinking, bypass their binding, specious logic and reinterpret the pain causing them to see themselves as unworthy, trapped and lost, or to see suicide as inevitable.
